Something seemed familiar about the bailout the Big 3 automaker's are wanting. It seemed like I had heard about this before, but it never clicked. Back in 1979, there was another bailout. I wasn't old enough to pay attention then, but I remember hearing people talk about it, hearing snipet's about what was going on. I ran across a Time magazine article "Chrysler's Crisis Bailout" on Aug. 20 in that year. The whole article could very well have been written today, its like history is repeating itself almost verbatim, except its Chrysler, Ford and GM now, when it was only Chrysler then.

Segways used to fight crime in China

This just doesn't make any sense to me, police riding a Segway with guns blasting? When I found this article, I thought it was a joke. But, no.. its real. Chinese police forces are using Segways to transport their guys onto the field of fire. I don't know what this says about their police force. But, if I saw the police riding in on these things, I'd have to ask myself WTF? Then get the hell out of dodge. If that is the best they can do for transportation. Or, hope they can outrun the bad guys on those things, they have something else coming.

George Carlin dead at age 71

George Carlin died Sunday night at 5:55 PDT, at the age of 71. His publicist said he went into St. John's Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. The Associated Press reported He died at 5:55 p.m. PDT.

George was known for his humor, often raunchy but insightful. Many of his routines I remember hearing from way back, are still funny and relevant today. Much of the material he used in his routines was pulled from the events of the day, and observations on the human condition. This is why they are still so funny, sometimes long after they were originally performed.

Thoughts on "Living with Ed" TV show

I've watched a few episodes of this show the past week, and it seems like a good one. I have known for a while that Ed is into recycling. And, also has a passion for solar electricity. But, had no idea how much so until I saw this show. He seems to recycle everything, and always starting new projects, much to the chagrin of his wife Rachelle. She doesn't have the same outlook on recycling as he does. But, its interesting to see her views & thoughts on things, then see his reaction to her. Or, her reaction to his. Check the show out, its a good one.

788 rats removed from Oregon home

I ran across this while browsing the news this morning. KPIC in Oregon, reported that 788 rats were removed from a house in Sutherlin. The article said the owner doesn't believe in killing animals, thus the large amount of rats. What was he thinking?? Even if you don't believe in killing them, get them out as soon as possible. Or, you end up with this large number very quickly. Everyone knows rats breed very fast, I guess some just have no idea how fast that really is.. unless your the owner of that house, or the neighbors. LOL

Loud & obnoxious people

While I was reading my devotions earlier tonight, I came across a couple of Bible verses that apply so well to obnoxious (& usually loud) people. The first is from Proverbs 29:11, "A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards".  I think this verse describes many people who are this type of person very well. They just say what's on their mind, disregarding the fact that its either not appropriate to the situation or place at hand. And secondly, that not everyone around may care to hear what their pointlessly spouting off about.

The second verse is from 1 Peter 4:9, "Be hospitable to one another without complaint".  I think this verse applies to all people, especially loud & obnoxious people. If we stopped to think about what were thinking before we say or act on it, a lot of the strife and irritation that comes as part of daily life wouldn't exist. We'd all be better off without having to deal with either.

Clinton news blurb

After Hillary's speech last night, I along with others are wondering where she will go from here. I hope she runs as an independent in the upcoming presidential elections. I'd much rather see her in office than Obama. And, I think her running against McCain would be more interesting than Obama against him. Her and Obama's views are similar, but hers lean more to the conservative side than Obama's are.

Weird device for bathroom

A friend from work sent me this link to a site advertising "Toilet Tunes" a while ago. This has to be one of the weirdest things I've seen for a bathroom. It plays a choice of music or nature sounds, while your in the bathroom & has a sensor you stick to the toilet. I'd rather not have this or any device start playing when I enter the bathroom. LOL

Weird news finds of the day

While browsing the news this morning, I came across a crazy article at The Dallas Morning News site asking women to send their used panties to Burmese officials. According to the article, "The Panties for Peace campaign plays on the regime leaders' superstitious fear that contact with a woman's underpants will rob them of their power." I never would have thought anything like this would make any kind of serious news, but it did. Wonder what this says about what we prioritize as news? LOL

Also, while browsing the same site, I came across an article dated May 10, 2008 about Mormons baptising dead people. According to the article, the Vatican has instructed bishops not to share parish registers with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Mormons believe that baptism after death affords a way for non-Mormons to become Mormons.

This has to be the weirdest thing I've ever heard, Mormons trying to convert dead people to their own odd branch (if they can even be called that??) of Christianity. Why can't they just let the dead be dead? Shouldn't people have the right to say if they want to be converted (obviously dead people can't have any say, but..) or not? If I died and found out when I got to Heaven that I was now a Mormon & not the non - denominational Christian that I was before I died, I would wonder if I really was in the right place. LOL

I tried the Hpno-Tini yesterday & it was prety good. It's still a bit to fruity for me, but I do like it a bit better than the Hpno-Rita. And, the earthquake that was supposed to hit Califoria on Thursday (according to Jim Berkland) never happened. Maybe Mr. Berkland needs to review his methods for forecasting earthquakes?

One interesting story I found this morning is about a parrot in Japan, his name is "Yosuke". He flew out of his cage a few weeks ago & was lost for two weeks. According to the story at the AP, his owners had been teaching him his home address for the past two years. When the police found him, he wouldn't speak to them. However, he did open up to the vet where he was taken to get checked out. And, is home with his fmaily in Chiba prefecture.

Hpnotiq & Hpno-Rita impressions

I tried the Hpno-Rita Tuesday, and its a good tasting drink. I was a bit surprised by the fruity taste, but its a refreshing drink. Because of the low alcohol content of the drink, I think I'd tire of the taste before I really felt any effects of the drink itself. It seems like a good summertime drink though. I still have to try the Hpno-Tini, & it may be tomorrow when I get back home.

Earthquake in California in 2 days??

Coast to Coast AM with George Noory just started a few minutes ago, & the first guest on, Jim Berkland, says California will have a magnitude 4 or higher earthquake in 2 days. He said the quake will strike Los Angeles, radiating out about 140 miles from the epicenter. On the show, he also mentioned odd frog and rat activity in the area has recently begun in the past few days, similarly to how frogs, rats and snakes were acting a few days prior to the earthquake in China last week. Well see in a few days if he's correct with this one.

Saturday shots & Hpnotiq

Saturday night I tried a shot I haven't had in a while, an alien nipple. It's got 1/2 shot butterscotch liquor, & 1/4 shot each of Midori Melon & Baileys Irish cream. Alcohol wise, its a light shot & it tastes exactly how I remember Brach's caramel chewy candies tasting. I could drink a few of these, if it weren't for the heaviness of the Baileys. But, it really is a good tasting shot.

Also, while talking to a friend on AIM Sat. night before I went out, she mentioned Hpnotiq liquor. I haven't tried it yet, as the liquor store was already closed when I left the house. When I do get some tomorrow (Monday), I'm going to try a Hpno-Rita & a Hpno-Tini.

Browsing at Drinks Mixer I found a variation on a drink with George Dickel that looks good, "Dickel & Dew". It's a good drink, but it looks like they have the amounts of each reversed. They say 1 part Dickel & 2 parts Mountain Dew. But, it should be 2 parts Dickel & 1 part Dew. Dickel tastes too good to be the other way around. The white label, or the old black label (not Cascade Hollow black label.. thats not good at all).

Electric Bra

Leave it to the Japanese to develop another wacky invention.. the solar bra. I'm not a regular news reader, usually getting to reading news about every other day or so. I found this while browsing the KFIV site, while listening to Coast to Coast AM there this morning. It's from lingerie maker Triumph International Japan Ltd. And, according to the article can generate enough electricity to charge a mobile phone or an iPod. I just had to post about it, if for no other reason than the name.

Birthday Shot impressions

I tried a few of these shots this past Saturday with friends, celebrating my birthday. It has Frangelico & vodka in the shot. After you shoot it, you suck sugar off of a lemon slice. The comments at iDrink say its supposed to taste like chocolate cake. I thought it tasted more like a blend of chocolate and lemon pound cake.
